Sesser Valier Waltonville rolls to a 51-8 win over Trico to claim 6th annual LJMWC

Game 12 – Trico vs Sesser Valier Waltonville

Sesser Valier Waltonville blew open a close game in the second quarter and beat the Trico Lady Pioneers 54-8 to claim the championship of the 6th annual Lady Jacket Mid-Winter Classic Saturday night inside Daniel Colbert Memorial Gym.

Sesser Valier Waltonville won the tournament for the third time and second year in a row. 

The Lady Red Devils led 8-2 after the first quarter and then took control in the second.  Sesser Valier Waltonville outscored the Lady Pioneers 20-2 in the second and took a commanding 28-4 lead to the locker room at halftime.

The Lady Red Devils continued their dominance in the third quarter by outscoring their Black Diamond Conference West Division rival 18-4.  SVW had a commanding 46-8 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

Chelsea Miller led the Lady Red Devils with a game high 22 points while Tasha Doerr added 10 points.

Rae Lappin (5), Rachel Marlo (4), Maegan Eskew (3), Cheyenne Pitchford (3), Mariah Miller (3), Mikala Williams (2) and Bailee Jones (2) also scored for the Lady Red Devils.

Jordan Lodge led Trico with four points while Katelyn Thies and Kourtney Bunselmeyer each had two points.


Game 11 – Marissa-Coulterville 42, Elverado 29

The Lady Meteors raced out to a 17-3 lead after the first quarter en route to a 42-29 decision over the Elverado Lady Falcons for third place in the Lady Jacket Mid-Winter Classic.

Marissa-Coulterville took a 24-9 lead to the locker room at halftime after outscoring Elverado 7-6 in the second quarter.

The Lady Meteors led 37-21 heading to the fourth quarter.

Bailey Setzekorn led Marissa-Coulterville with a game high 20 points.  Kendra Goss tossed in nine points while Christa Hill added six points.

Ashley Leham (4) and Abbie Leham (3) also scored for Marissa-Coulterville.

Rebecca Korando and Lacey Qualls each had nine points to lead Elverado.  Paige Newfarmer tossed in five while Meghann Trammel, Hannah Rawson and Corine Wilson each had two points.


Game 10 – Valmeyer 45, Chester 39

In a consolation championship game which featured 50 fouls whistled between the two teams, the Valmeyer Lady Pirates upset the Chester Lady Yellow Jackets 45-39.

Chester was whistled for 30 fouls in the game and saw four players foul out of the game.  Valmeyer was called for 20 fouls and had two players head to the bench early.

Chester led 11-9 after the first quarter but Valmeyer answered in the second.  The Lady Pirates outscored the Lady Yellow Jackets 13-9 in the second and took a 22-20 lead at halftime.

Valmeyer took a 32-28 lead heading to the fourth after outscoring Chester 10-8 in the quarter.

Chester had numerous chances to take the lead but the Lady Yellow Jackets struggled from the foul line and inside the paint.

Valmeyer outscored Chester 13-11 in the final eight minutes en route to the six point decision.

Raelyn Rosendohl led Chester with 11 points while Kellie Dillow tossed in eight and Chelsea Schroeder finished with seven.

Alexandria Fedderke (5), Maribeth Lawrence (3), Marah Laramore (2), De’Na Nesbitt (2) and Sarah Bindel (2) also scored for the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Laura Berry led Valmeyer with 11 points while Morgan Redohl finished with eight while Elizabeth Chism added seven points.

Paige Bangle (6) Brittany Killy (5), Miranda Kaufmann (5), Grace Nappier (3) also scored for Valmeyer.

Valmeyer was 14-for-40 from the foul line while Chester finished 9-for-25.


Game 9 – New Athens 41, Dupo 9

New Athens blew open a close game in the second quarter to win the seventh place game of the Lady Jackets Mid-Winter Classic Tournament with a 41-9 rout of Dupo.

New Athens outscored Dupo 9-4 in the second quarter and built a 13-6 lead at halftime.

The Lady Yellowjackets slam the door on any possible in the third quarter.  New Athens outscored Dupo 17-3 in the quarter and took a 30-9 lead heading to the fourth.

Tiffany Nations led the Lady Yellowjackets with a game high 13 points.  Denae White tossed in nine while Bailey Dudeck added six points.

Jordan Parker (5), Aleen Dutkanych (4), Katic Stizel 92) and Mallory Warnecke (2) also scored for New Athens.

Dupo’s Katie Chatelain led the Tigers with five points while Rachel Ostertag added four points.
